Have you seen Freddy?

As you may be able to tell, Addie is quite found of her stuffed animals and babies. She carries them around all day at home. At school, she likes to put them all in a bucket and push the bucket around. Her favorite is Freddy, with her "baby", from her daycare teacher, coming in a close second.
Today, Addie brought Freddy on our morning Saturday run as she usually does, except half way through the run Freddy was gone! It was one of those sinking stomach feelings. Where could she have dropped him? How could I have not noticed? Could he be replaced? I started to contemplate how the signs would read:
Missing - 6" pink bear, approximately 13 months old, nose chewed off, slightly stinky, well-worn, well-loved. He responds to Freddy and loves to be held by the arm, dangling.
So we started to back track, stopping cyclists, runners and walkers along our way. "Excuse me, have you seen a little pink bear?" Of course Addie was passed out by this time and could have cared less, but I kept looking. Then the last runner that I asked if she had seen a pink bear responded, "is it a pink and purple bear?" Well, how many bears could be laying along side of Shoal Creek? But I politely said yes, knowing we had found our bear! She said that she had seen him about 1/2 mile up and had moved him over into the grass - not sure if that was to protect him or protect cyclists. So we ran up about 1/2 mile and there was Freddy, in the grass and covered with ants but doing just fine. Addie was still asleep. I brushed him off and put him back under her arm with a better eye on him the rest of the way home. He may stay home on runs from now on.
